Babysitting, Birthday Parties, Quesadilla Explosions, and Star Trek

June 22, 2008

It was a nice day.  I have a hard time figuring out what day it is since school was done.  One day is much the same as the other and suddenly, summer is not nearly so much w/o my usual tight structure.  But today is different.  We had a schedule today.

Luke and Ryan arrived this morning about 10 am.  Katie and her mother went to a party for Granny’s 80th birthday.  The guys weren’t invited and Carl was at work so my “little britches” and “even smaller britches” came to visit with me.  At two, I sent Ryan to my sister’s house for Danny’s birthday bash in the pool.  When Luke woke up from his nap, we joined them.  What fun a group of little boys can have with water guns, pool floats, noodles, water balloons,  and snorkeling gear.  How energetic they are and they have such endurance.  I’m so jealous…I used to have that kind of energy and stamina.

After the party, the guys went home with the promise that we would ride horses on Thursday.  Papa came to see us and we arranged to meet for dinner tonight at Chile’s.  Picked up Papa and Nella and took our first bites of Chile’s usual fare about 7.  Quesadilla Explosion is uncommonly good fare, of course.  Chile’s in a small town is so different from the franchise in a city.  It’s a fellowship, a stay as long as you want kind of place in the small town.  In the city, it’s still a socialization center but it’s a transient kind of place, a stop-gap between home and the movie or date night.  In both places, there is lots of noise and laughter…the main difference is the duration of the visit to the restaurant.  Of course, the small town version is very relaxed and so is the speed of service…don’t look to get a meal and get out quick.

So, here we are back at home, watching the third season of Star Trek, couple of aging Trekkies in recliners.  Can anything be a better end to a very nice day?

So glad y’all had a such a great time on your cruise! Murray and I went a couple of times. Our one regret? That we didn’t do it sooner! To our way of thinking, it’s the “perfect” vacation!

Anyway – your website is so cool! Can you tell me how you got your photo as a banner across the top of your page?

I’m such a techno goober . . . can’t figure out these things for myself!

It is the perfect vacation! I don’t know why we didn’t do it sooner either. We have 2 scheduled for next year in January and in May.

Ah, you have a different blog space than I do. On WordPress, you would click on the dashboard and follow the links to edit your page. I don’t know how your blog is set up. Look for a button that will allow editing.

Are you still needing kitty cats? I still have some.

I’ll have to ask Amanda to help w/blog as I’m bit of a Neanderthal in that area of technology!

No no kittens right now. We have recently acquired a 110#, 4 year old, male (fixed) Golden Retriever and all the expense of de-fleaing and updating shots. No money to fix kitties, etc., etc., etc.

Loved your story about the skirt! Ain’t that how it goes?!
