What Fun!!!!

September 19, 2010

The day started off early for me yesterday. I caught this sunrise on the way to an early morning meeting.

This weekend is The Plano Balloon Festival. Excellent! It was a lot of fun. I had never seen a hot air balloon before so it was an education too. One never realizes how many people there are in Plano until they all show up at one place. There was an air of festivity. Children laughed and played together. People smiled at each other and enjoyed foot-long corn dogs with spicy mustard. They also downed a lot of ice cold fresh squeezed lemonade.

While we watched the balloons fill and rise, we visited with people from all over the state. Some were just at the park for an evening out, but others drove a very long way to come up for the event. One photographer from Austin gave me his card so that I can go online and see his photos. Nice people; all.

Sunset was spectacular.

As it grew dark, the burners lit up the balloons. Some were mellow in their glow and others appeared to be on fire. It was so cool.

For the first time ever, the spectators were allowed on the field with the balloons and so I got the most awesome pictures. I think my chin rested on my toes most of the evening. I was spell-bound. You have to experience it to know what I’m talking about. You gotta do this. Seriously, tomorrow is the last day but if you don’t make it plan on it for your next September outing.

when the lights went out, the balloons were like great silent ghosts floating overhead but when they were glowing, they glowed with all their might!
